Here is how to spend a day in Denali, built from the hikes and activities the National Park Service lists and the time it says each takes. Times are for the activity itself; add time for driving, parking and shuttles between stops, and swap anything that is closed or out of season.
Day 1
About 4 hours of listed activity time, plus stops with no listed time.
Start at Denali Visitor Center for maps, current trail conditions and ranger advice.
Morning
- Explore Mountain Vista & Savage River (2 to 6 hours). While most of Denali’s sole road is restricted just to bus traffic, anybody can drive out to Mountain Vista and Savage River. (best in spring, summer, fall)
Afternoon
- Berry Picking in Denali (time not listed). Alaska is well known for it’s amazing and abundant berries in August and September, just ask any of the grizzly bears in Denali! (best in summer, fall)
